So I leave the US on Friday, January 23rd for 27
months in Vanuatu. I did not expect to leave Vanuatu so soon and mark another
continent off of my list. After 7 and half weeks of training I end up in
Sydney, Australia. This was an amazing opportunity and I tried my best to live
it out to the fullest. I am going to list some of the amazing things I did in
Sydney, Australia!
- Taronga Zoo. It was a beautiful day. The ferry ride was awesome. My favorite animals were the meerkat and the koala. We missed the time were you get to meet a koala. L
- Sydney Sea Life Aquarium. The underwater tanks were really neat. I enjoyed walking around with Nicole, Jason, Shaheed, and Julia. We also went on this AMAZING boat tour of the Great Barrier Reef. Not… This was the worst thing I have ever been on and it cost an extra 15 dollars. Well it was a good laugh.
- Saw Bondi Beach and got my first tattoo at Bondi Ink. It was an amazing day. I love my tattoo and everything that it means to me. (next post) It was a meant to be kind of thing. They were playing all the music that I loved. My tattoo artist was awesome and I had amazing friends there supporting me. I also got my tattoo done with four other girls. Three of us it was our first one. It was such an awesome experience.
- Saw a movie in the biggest IMAX theatre in the world. It was great. We watched Interstellar. A great movie to watch in an IMAX theatre.
- Ate at McDonalds.
- Shopped at K-Mart and Target. Here K-Mart is 10 times better. (I know Carrie, you cannot believe it but it is true.)
- Went to Blue Mountain. It is about a two-hour train ride from Sydney. We went on a bad day. It was cold and foggy. We could not see anything. However, it was great to get out of the city.
- Became a pro at using the trains.
- Saw fireworks at Darling Harbor and had a margarita at Margaritaville.
- Went to the Sydney Opera House. It was beautiful. I did not get a chance to see and opera because we had a 10 o’clock curfew.
- Walked around one of the many Botanical Gardens in Sydney.
- Celebrated St. Patrick's day at a pub!
- The best part was getting to know all of my fellow volunteers. It was great to hang out and spend time with people who I probably would have never gotten too.
